Traditionally witch's ladders were made
by tying 40 knots in a length of rope,
these days they are more aesthetically
pleasing & are beaded or feathered

They are used for spell repetition (generally
to help keep count of recitations)
When used for protection spells they
are hung by the doorway once the spell is cast

Crone Crafts Witch's Ladders
are often made with marker beads
 at intervals of 5/10 to make keeping
 count during spellwork easier

They are infinitely re-usable,
you do not need a new
ladder for each spell cast,
though it is advisable for home protection spells
to hang the ladder by the entrance of the house
